MENTORSHIP PROGRAM

Grow Together & Level Up

Once you have been matched, you will enter a loop. The purpose and power of loops go far beyond introductions. They provide a space for mentors and mentees to document their entire journeys together and keep track of their progress throughout the entire relationship - from growing together to leveling up!

Documenting Your Mentoring Journey

When it comes to mentoring, it is beneficial to have all communication in one centralized space. Sure it may be tempting to opt for an alternative form of communication, however, we encourage you to take advantage of Mentorloop for all things mentoring!

  • Document your mentoring journey.
  • Confirm meeting date, time, and attendees.
  • Share meeting agendas.
  • Summarize discussions.
  • Align on key decisions and actions.
  • Schedule your next meeting.
  • Confirm your meeting ahead of time.
  • Share feedback with your Program Coordinator.
  • Celebrate your wins.

Tracking Results and Creating Accountability

Peter Drucker, known as the founder of modern management, was quoted as saying, "What gets measured, gets managed."  Simply put, if you aren't tracking results and outcomes, you are leaving it entirely to chance as to whether they will be what you want them to be.  Mentors and mentees should regularly review the goals they set and the progress toward reaching them, all while documenting that process through the Mentorloop system.  Doing this creates mutual accountability between mentor and mentee, yielding the results that you are both after.

To aid with your tracking of production in the industry, we have developed a NAIFA Model Production Tracking Chart, which you are welcome to use or modify to meet your needs.

Networking Through NAIFA

The single greatest asset we have at NAIFA is our members.  Collectively, they have nearly a half-million years of experience in this industry.  This is exactly why we launched this mentoring program, to operationalize that experience for your benefit.

However, if this program is the only way you are engaging this resource, you are missing out!   We're going to let you in on a little secret...with all of the great programming we put on at the national, state, and local levels, we only expect about 20% of what you learn to come from the stage.  The rest comes in the hallways before and after the meetings and during breaks.

So, make sure that you are taking full advantage of your NAIFA membership by attending the Congressional Conference, Apex, your state Legislative Day, and any other state and local events to learn and grow with your peers.

Closing the Loop

When it comes time to end the mentor/mentee relationship (and potentially look for a new connection), there are two ways a loop can be closed.

  • Close the Loop Yourself: If you have multiple connections, navigate to the loop you'd like to close in your left sidebar. Select the "Close Loop" button in the top right-hand corner. You will then be prompted to rate the match and select a reason for closing the loop.
  • Loop Closed by Program Coordinator: If the loop is closed by the Program Coordinator, you will still be access your loop, but you will no longer be able to continue interacting. The Program Coordinator will leave a note indicating the reason for closing the loop and you will be required to fill out the close loop survey on the right-hand side of your loop.

Refer a Friend

Both mentors and mentees are encouraged to refer a friend, colleague, NAIFA member, etc. directly to the Program Coordinator! You can refer an individual straight from your dashboard or at the end of the registration process. Simply enter the email address of the individual you would like to refer and the Program Coordinator will receive a notification, or email us at mentoring@naifa.org!
